

Relatives and friends of Walter Henderson are invited to his Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC 29406.
Walter was born in North Charleston, South Carolina on February 12, 1987. He was the son of John and Theresa Henderson.
Walter was a 2006 graduate of R.B. Stall High School. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army as a Calvary Scout (19D). He attended one station unit training at Ft. Knox, KY from April 2007 to September 2007. After completing OSUT he was assigned to the 1st Calvary Division at Ft. Hood TX. Walter deployed to Iraq from January 2009 to December 2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle operator conducting mounted and dismounted operations. He received many awards and decorations including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, and Combat Action Badge. He received an Honorable Discharge on August 28, 2010.
Afterwards, he attended the South Carolina Firefighter Academy in Columbia South Carolina and worked as a volunteer Firefighter at Dewees Island, SC. He worked as a rigger with several of the boat manufacturers in the lowcountry. Walter was a loving, caring and dependable son and brother. He always protected his family if needed. Walter would not hesitate to help with anything needed by anyone in the family. Although Walter had no children of his own, he loved and cared about his nephews and nieces as if they were his own
Walter is survived by his parents, John and Theresa; his brothers, John Henderson, II, (Tabitha Henderson), Joseph Henderson Sr. (Jennifer Henderson), and Wesley Henderson. Nephews and nieces, Abigail, Sean, Joseph Jr., and Samantha, as well as his cousin, Zack Henderson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marshall and Cecilia Henderson and his uncle, Marshall Henderson II.
