Bernice June Allen

She was born March 28, 1923 in Kewanee, Ill. the eldest of eight siblings to Paul H. Haynes and Amy Nell Johnson Haynes. She married Edward W. Allen on June 28, 1943 in Rapid City, South Dakota while he served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII. They live in Peoria, Ill. after the war until 1958 when they moved to Sun Valley, California. Her husband preceded her in death on March 18, 1989.

She work as an administrative secretary at Hydro-Aire, a Division of Crane Comp., for 24 years until her retirement in 1986. She was also a longtime volunteer at Joslyn Adult Center in Burbank.

Bernice is survived by a daughter, Becki Atkinson (Ron) of Grants Pass, Ore, two sons, William Allen (Mary) of Palmdale, CA and Edward Allen Jr. (Nancy) of Sunland, CA. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Julie, Jason, Michael, Eric, Kristine and Amy, and loved all 16 of her great grandchildren and her 1 great-great grandchild. Bernice was loved and will be missed. Her 3 sisters and 4 brothers have all proceeded her in death.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in 2021 due to Covid restrictions. The Family request that in lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be sent to a veterans organization of your choice.
