Jacqueline Kay Rachke (Bates), known to family and friends as Jackie, was born on April 22, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Charles and Gladys Bates. She passed peacefully from natural causes at her home in Lancaster, California, at the age of 89.
Jackie was a talented figure ice skater in her younger years, a passion that reflected her grace, discipline, and quiet strength. After marriage, Jackie devoted herself to her family and spent many years owning and operating various restaurants. Her final venture before retirement, Jackie's Café, allowed her to become a cherished member of her community. She deeply valued the friendships and relationships she built over the years, treating everyone who walked through her doors like family.
Jackie treasured her time at home and loved having all her "kids' at home. This included both her family and the many friends of her children who became a constant presence in her life. All were always welcome, enjoying time together by the pool and sharing countless meals and gatherings filled with laughter and love.
Jackie is survived by her beloved husband, Edward Rachke; her daughters, Gayann and Angela; Edward's son, Matthew and Son-in-Law, Kevin. She was a grandmother to Jordyn, Samantha, and Nikolaos, who bought her great joy.
She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Charles, as well as her parents, Charles and Gladys Bates. Her family takes comfort in knowing she has been joyfully reunited with them.
Jackie will be remember for her warm heart, her devotion to those she loved, and the lasting connections she created throughout her life.
A graveside service will be held in February 2026 at Valhalla Memorial Park in North Hollywood, California, where she will be laid to rest alongside her parents.
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear not evil. For Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy Staff they comfort me."
-Psalm 23
