Antonio Hernandez

Antonio Hernández, a foremost child psychologist and a man of uncommon grace and humor, passed away peacefully on 8 February 2026 at the age of 83.

Born in Havana, Cuba, on 21 September 1942, Antonio built a life defined by intellect, faith, devotion, and love. He was widely respected in his field, dedicating his career to the emotional well-being of children and families. His work was guided not only by expertise, but by compassion and moral clarity.

Antonio was known for his loving and positive spirit. He possessed a quiet nobility — generous with his time, steady in his faith, and deeply religious throughout his life. His presence brought reassurance, dignity, and warmth to those around him.

He was loved by an extraordinary number of friends who cherished his thoughtful counsel, his laughter, and his unwavering loyalty. He found great joy in the performing arts, regularly attending Broadway productions, ballet, opera, and classical concerts with close friends and with his beloved husband.

Antonio especially loved to travel, most memorably to Italy with his husband, a country that held a special place in his heart and where he formed intimate friendships with those who will sorely miss him.

His marriage was a true storybook partnership — a union of 52 years marked by devotion, companionship, caring, a deep joint spirituality, and enduring intense love.

He is survived by Leonard I. Jacobson, Margarita, Janet, Raisa, Rene, along with countless friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.

Antonio leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, intellect, and steadfast love.

A chapel service will be held at the Star of David Memorial Chapel, located at 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, on February 12, 2026, starting at 1:00pm.

Following the chapel service, a burial will take place in the Garden of Matthew at the Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, also located at 7701 Bailey Rd, North Lauderdale, FL 33068. The burial is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm on the same day.
