Claire Sue Price

Claire Sue Price (née Henig), 79, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2026. Born on July 4, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, Claire spent her childhood in Lindenhurst before attending college in Buffalo, where she studied elementary education. She began her teaching career in Miami at Rainbow Park Elementary School in Opa-locka during the first year of school integration, a moment in history she was proud to be part of. Education was more than a profession for Claire, it was a calling. She spent many years serving students in Opa-locka, later earning her master’s degree and becoming the school’s media specialist at Lakeview Elementary. She continued her work in education in Broward County before retiring earlier than planned following a traumatic brain injury from an accident at school.

Claire raised her two children in Cooper City, Florida, where she lived for many years, later residing in Hollywood and eventually moving to Boca Raton to be closer to family. She loved books, teaching, shopping, and making chocolates, though she enjoyed eating them just as much. Claire had a special fondness for sparkly clothes and accessories and always embraced the joy of being born on the Fourth of July, often joking that the fireworks were meant just for her. Above all, she loved her family deeply.

She is survived by her children, Lysa Price-Vasconez (Larry Vasconez) and Ian Burton Price (Barbara Carol Price); and her grandchildren, Noah Baron Price, Helen Carol Price, and Brendyn Richard Price. Claire’s warmth, humor, and love of learning will live on in the many lives she touched, both in her classroom and within her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

A Funeral Service will be held at Star of David Memorial Chapel, Main Chapel, 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, US, on March 8, 2026, at 1:30 pm.

A Committal Service will be held at Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Judea O Mausoleum, 7701 Bailey Rd, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, US, on March 8, 2026, at 2:00 pm.

Claire’s final resting place is Star of David Memorial Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 7701 Bailey Rd, North Lauderdale, in the Judea O Mausoleum.
