Coranne, who went by Cory, was born on August 14, 1955 in New York, New York, the daughter of Rabbi Aryeh Lev Lupkin and Blanche (Karp) Lupkin.
Cory graduated from Queen Anne High School in Halifax, Nova Scotia, then earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Salisbury University in Maryland. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction - Special Education from Pace University School of Education.
Coranne gave birth to her daughter Lea Lupkin in 1987. She married the love of her life Donald Kruse in 1998 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with Rabbi Frank officiating. They lived near Don's family in New York until Don retired to Florida, with their beloved golden retriever Casey. Don passed away in 2007.
Cory's long career was dedicated to serving others, protecting and empowering the least privileged among us. She was a Child Protective Officer with Broward Sheriff's Office, and a Special Education Teacher in New York and Florida. She served as a case worker for homeless families in New York and also was a Supervisor at the Ann Storck Center, a home for developmentally delayed adults in South Florida.
She was passionate about protecting cats and dogs too, fostering and volunteering for the past two decades since she was widowed, mostly with Good Karma Pet Rescue. She saved countless furbaby lives during this time.
She loved cracking jokes and cracking crabs at her favorite crab shack and baked the best cheesecake. Her funny, caring, and feisty spirit will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by her friends and family.
Remaining to cherish Cory's memory are her daughter Lea Lupkin; step daughter Karen Kruse; step sons Scott Kruse and David Kruse; and countless friends.
Preceding Cory in death are her husband, Donald Kruse; brother, Eliot Lupkin; and parents Aryeh Lev and Blanche Lupkin.
A funeral service will be held at Star of David Memorial Chapel, located at 7701 Bailey Road, North Lauderdale, FL 33068, on August 22, 2025, starting at 10:30 am. Friends and family are invited to wear Cory's favorites -- tie-dye or purple -- to celebrate her vivacious life. After the service, friends and family are welcome at her home in Tamarac to sit Shiva with the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Good Karma Pet Rescue of South Florida at https://www.goodkarmapetrescue.org/donate or to the Ann Storck Center at https://www.annstorckcenter.org/?give=PYEVM6DX.
