Lloyd was born at home in Preston (Bonny Gate), St. Mary in Jamaica on May 30, 1943, to Vera Boyd and Ezekiel Byfield. He was the youngest boy of 11 children. He went to Preston All Age School and attended Bonny Gate Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Lloyd was a well-loved little boy in the district of Preston and he was an avid cricket player as a youth.
As a teen, he left St. Mary and moved to Kingston where he resided with his sister Faye. He went to trade school and continued in that trade with his family working as a cabinet maker.
In 1972, he migrated to the Bahamas and in 1973 came to the United States to join his brother Clarence in New York. He purchased his first home in Ossining, NY where he worked at Rand McNally in Cartography for many years, until they went out of business. In his later years he worked with young males and youth at Lincoln Hall and Children’s Village until he retired in 2010.
He enjoyed playing Cricket and was a medium paced bowler and a good "batsman". He was one of the founding members of the Ossining Cricket Team and played into his adulthood. Lloyd was very fashionable, his wardrobe was always on point and loved to step out and get dressed up. Everyone knows he took forever to get ready because he loved to look his best. He was very active at family gatherings and picnics. He was always connected to his nephews and siblings. He often became the center of attention and loved it. After retiring in 2012,Lloyd moved to Florida to help care for his brother Clarence and remained there until his death. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Lloyd is survived by his four daughters Deboree Andrade Byfield , Rhonda Vera Byfield, Janique Alaine Byfield, Lauren Alise Byfield, seven grandchildren, and a host of niece, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his brother Glen Byfield.
