WOLK – Frances Ellen, 85, was born Frances Ellen Halpert in Brooklyn, NY. Always an independent thinker, Frances disregarded parental advice (and convention), nearly 100 suitors and two (more appropriate?) engagements before choosing her lifelong love, Bruce Wolk. Bruce’s steadfast and practical personality (as befits a CPA) complemented Frances’ joie de vivre (and admitted kooky side) so that together they pursued more adventures and successfully tackled more than each would on their own. Fran was a wonderful friend and remarkable because she always showed up when needed for so many. Frances earned a bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College in Education but chose, instead of teaching, to be a homemaker and partner to Bruce. She took her role seriously and committed to a vigorous social calendar of bridge, social and charity commitments. Fran is survived by her children, Jonathan Wolk (Allison Roth) and Marianne Wolk (Richard Horwitz), her grandchildren Brandon and Carly, and great granddaughter Ava.
In memoriam, contributions to the American Heart Association would be a beautiful way to honor Frances.
