Gladys Roth-Freedman, known to all as “Auntie Gladys” was a force of nature. Born in Brooklyn to Milton Roth and Anna Cohen, Gladys helped raise and care for her younger brothers Leonard and Sheldon along with her sister, Jean.
Her first job at the young age of 17 was as the secretary and administrative head at a sheet metal factory in Brooklyn. After moving to Massachusetts, Gladys spent many years as the administrative head at the Hematology and Oncology research lab at MIT.
She had two marriages, the second of which to David Freedman was the happiest and often enjoyed summers spent on Cape Cod. In the early 1990’s David and Gladys bought their condo in Pompano Beach where Gladys created a large circle of loyal friends.
She was beloved at the casino and a wizard of the slot machines.
But most of all she was cherished and adored by her many nieces, nephews, and honorary “sugar babies.”
Gladys now joins her mother, Anna and her sister Jean. She is survived by her brothers Leonard and Sheldon. And boy will she be missed!
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.starofdavidfuneralchapel.com for the Roth Freedman family.
