Mom remained fiercely independent, insisting on living in her own apartment despite our many offers of help. That was who she was—determined to the end. Sadly, pneumonia took hold, her lungs filled with fluid, her heart grew weak, and finally her kidneys failed. But even in her last moments, she did not suffer long. Surrounded by those who loved her most, she slipped away peacefully, closing a life that had been rich, meaningful, and overflowing with love.
To the world, I want to say this clearly: I loved my mother with everything I am. She could have let grief overwhelm her when I was only two months old and tragedy struck, but instead she poured even more love into me. Mom, you showed me that no obstacle is too big, no loss too heavy, if we face it with courage and heart. I will carry you with me every day, live the values you taught me, and love you forever.
Rest in peace, Mom. You’ve earned it.

Eulogy

Dear family, friends, and all who gathered here today to honor an extraordinary woman,
We are here to celebrate the remarkable life of my mother, who left us peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, just shy of her 93rd birthday. Ninety-three years—a long, full life by any measure—yet no length of time can truly prepare us for the moment we must say goodbye to our mother. The ache of her absence is real and deep, even as we rejoice that she is now reunited in heaven with those she loved and lost: her parents, Max and Dora; her sister, Eleanor; her brother, Milton; her husbands, Melvin and Bernard; and her son, David. She is home with them at last, whole and at peace.
My mother knew profound loss in her life—more than most could bear—yet she never allowed it to break her. Instead, each sorrow made her stronger, not just for herself, but for her family. When my father, Mel, died suddenly one summer afternoon in July, she was left a young widow with a three-year-old son and a two-month-old baby—me. She had nothing but us two boys, yet she did not crack. With the help of family, she rallied, stood tall, and raised us with a fierce love and determination that shaped everything I am today.
That grit, that quiet toughness in a woman barely five feet tall, taught me the most important lesson of my life: life will bring difficulties none of us can avoid, but it is how we face them that defines us. She had no college degree, yet her wisdom was deeper and more valuable than any university could offer. I could speak for hours about the lessons she gave me, but I’ll spare you that today. What I want everyone here to know is this: every accomplishment in my life rests on the foundation she built and the guidance I was wise enough to follow. She was so proud of the man I became—and I am proud to say I owe it all to her.
Her pride and joy extended to her three beloved grandchildren: Madelyn, Alec and Julia.
