Hi Joe,  

Hard to express in words my condolences, but I will do my best.  I often question why God allows great people to leave us too soon, but the potential answers are never clear or satisfactory.  But the path forward is to always have faith in God's plan, even in extreme circumstances like this, even when it does not make sense to us and even when the pain and heartache is nearly unbearable.  I try to think the answer is of a greater calling that we cannot comprehend at this time, maybe heaven needed her back for a greater purpose, and the true answer to this question will show itself in a beautiful reason later in your life.  I feel blessed to have known Hillary for the short time since I joined R1 and she was a great person to work with, my prayers are with you and your daughter and please remember, the path forward is to keep going with Faith.

What I remember most about her is how much her family meant to her, she loved you and Sabrina so much. She used to show me the drawings and little crafts that Sabrina had made for her and you could feel the great love and joy she had for her daughter and your family. Hillary was always kind, full of joy, happiness, and laughter and there for anyone who needed advice or wanted to talk. She will be greatly missed, my deepest condolences, I’m so very sorry for your loss.

Words fall short of expressing the sorrow, shock, and pain you must be feeling. My heart breaks with you, as do those of all of the people whose lives Hillary brightened. I wish we had more time with her--it seems like we were sharing a Safety Patrol post at the Del Prado bus loop only yesterday.
