Judith Baylis

October 9, 1941 – February 17, 2015

Judy passed away at home on February 17, 2015 from complications of Parkinson’s syndrome. She is survived by her loving husband Donald R. Baylis of Margate, Florida, her sister Melissa Smoot of Nashville, Tn., her five daughters: Katie Watson, Sally Conway, Suzy Colburn, Julie Hinden and Caroline Singletary. She also has 12 grandchildren: Lee Watson, Jr., Megan Watson, Jordan Colburn, Sydney Colburn, Myranda Conway, Regina Conway, Scott Hinden, Alex Hinden, Britney Hinden, Samantha Singletary, Cheyenne Singletary and Jesse Singletary; 2 great grandchildren: Aiden Watson and Caleb Watson; a niece Rachel Holloway and nephew Eric Holloway. She also leaves behind her Pekingese dog Juju.

Judy was born and raised in Nashville, TN to her parents William Edward Herod and Mary Robinson Herod, both lawyers that have previously passed away. She moved to Florida as an adult and was married previously. She worked for Publix for many years and retired several years ago after meeting and falling in love with her current husband Don through the checkout line. They were happily married for 7 years.

Judy was a creative and supportive person and was known for helping others even before herself and for her different artistic abilities of crafting, decoupage, sewing, knitting, embroidery and quilting. She loved going on cruises, traveling to different places, eating ice cream, romantic stories, Florida beaches, and Pekingese dogs. Judy requested that the Velveteen Rabbit be read at her funeral because of the idea that when someone loves you, you become real and nobody can ever take that away.

Services will be held at Star of David in North Lauderdale, FL on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 1:45pm. She will be buried the following day at South Florida National Cemetery (Line 3). Flowers may be sent to Star of David at Star Of David Funeral Chapel
