Mollie Ewig was born on October 10, 1922, and relocated to Brooklyn with her family as an infant. Following a polio diagnosis at nine months old, Mollie underwent extensive hospital care, including multiple surgeries and physical therapy, for thirteen years. Despite limited education, she pursued self-directed learning and eventually attended a program for students with disabilities at Queensborough College, where she acquired stenography, typing, and office skills.
Mollie married Louis in 1942, and they had three children: Allen, Eileen, and Audrey. Mollie's life was dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mollie and Louis's children had children of their own: Allen and Marsha had Rebecca and Eric; Eileen and Eli had Elliot and Evan; Audrey and Eddie had Diana and Melissa. Her life was later blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Eric and Audrey's children, Noah, Anika, Eli, and Zoe, and Rebecca and Darrell's children, Natalie, Alison, and Ava. Mollie's family brought immense joy and happiness to her life.
She takes immense pride in her family's devotion, generosity, and caring nature. Allen worked tirelessly to support individuals with mental illness and was the executive director of Aldea Family Services in California until his passing in 2007 due to colon cancer. Eileen passed away in 2013 due to health issues, and Louis passed away in 2014. Despite facing numerous challenges, Mollie worked for thirty years, first at Mart Ray Mfg Co and later at Disney Character Slipper Co, and discovered a passion for music in her later years.
After moving to Florida in 1987, Mollie organized an annual talent show at Sunrise Lakes' Galaxy Room. Throughout her life, Mollie demonstrated remarkable resilience and determination. At ninety-eight, having overcome breast cancer, open-heart surgery, and a hip replacement, Mollie's life was filled with immense pride, boundless gratitude, and overflowing appreciation for her loving family and cherished friends.
