daughters-in-law Jennifer Ann Katz and Jennifer Barten Katz, and his four loving grandchildren, Avery, Hayden, Samatha and Ethan Katz. He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Joan (née Silverman) Katz.
Myron lived a long life filled with family and friends. He was born February 24, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY to Harry and Gladys Katz. Myron and Joan married on October 28th, 1962 and raised their family first in Long Beach and then in Merrick, NY, before retiring to Coconut Creek, FL. Myron was an immensely proud US Army Veteran, and took his role as a Kohen in the Jewish community very seriously, attending synagogue at the Chabad in Mineola, NY and later at the Chabad in Coral Springs, FL and Coconut Creek, FL.
Myron grew up in Midwood, Brooklyn and graduated from Madison High School. He started attending Brooklyn College before enlisting, and after being honorably discharged from the Army, used the GI Bill to earn his bachelor’s and his master’s degrees from SUNY Old Westbury. Myron worked as a salesman at 3M selling copy machines and was ranked as the top salesman in the United States several times throughout his successful career.
Myron also gave so much back to the communities he lived in. He was a United Synagogue Youth (USY) director for various synagogues, was a founding board member of the
Community School in Long Beach, NY and was awarded the Key to the City of Long Beach in 1973 for his contribution to the community’s youth. Myron was also honored by the Town
of Hempstead, with Sunday March 9th, 1986, designated as “Myron Katz Day”. Myron sat on many non-profit boards, ran golf outings in his retirement, and never met someone that he did not quickly befriend.
