Bill enjoyed a happy childhood in Little Rock, Arkansas with his parents, Eva and John Papageorge and his siblings, Maria, Tom, and his twin brother Alex. His entire family – and especially his mother – was determined to help Bill do great things and not be limited in any way.
After high school, Bill earned his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins and his Master’s degree and PhD from UCLA. His mother followed Bill to the west coast to assist with day-to-day life. Bill spent his professional career working in Comparative Analysis at UCLA and UC-Berkeley. He was especially focused on health outcomes and the effect of human behavior on long-term health consequences. Bill was the first family member to move to the east coast; others soon followed.
Bill thrived because of the ongoing love he received from his family. As one would imagine, he had a particularly strong bond with his twin brother. This connection is perhaps best demonstrated by the fact that Bill passed away just hours after his brother Alex, even though they had not been in the same physical space for weeks.
Bill is survived by his loving sister Maria and brother Tom and predeceased by his parents, Eva and Jon Papageorge. Both Alex and Bill Papageorge passed away on November 18.
