

Billie D. Webb of Maumelle, Arkansas passed quietly June 8 at Fox Ridge Assisted Living, where he was a resident for the past year. Bill was a favorite of the staff there and will be deeply missed by his caregivers along with his friends and family. He is survived by his daughter, Jeannie Miller, granddaughter Ginny Miller, and great-grandson Carter Miller all of Benton, Arkansas. He also leaves behind his brother EC Webb and sister Ruth Huffstutlar of Little Rock and his sister Juanita Rea of North Little Rock, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Clifton Webb and Elizabeth (Carpenter) Webb and his brother Jarrell Webb.
Bill was born near Carlisle, where he attended the Piney Woods one-room school with his siblings and then England High School, graduating in 1947. He joined the U.S Navy in 1948 and trained as an electronics specialist including a stint as a crewman on one of the last active Naval airships (dirigible). Bill made the Navy his career, achieving Instructor status in 1962 and eventually moving up to Master Chief, earning a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Navy Unit Commendation among other awards along the way. After retiring with an honorable discharge, he continued to serve the Navy as a consultant, at one point working as a naval electronics instructor in Dundee, Scotland.
Bill’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock on June 15 at 11:00 am with a reception following. Visitation will be available prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am. Interment with military honors will be held at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock at 1:00pm.
