Eugene B. (Gene) Hansen, Jr., 62, of Jacksonville, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016. Gene was born July 19, 1954, on Feamcom AFB in Tachikawa, Japan. He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene B. Hansen, Sr., and sisters Elizabeth (Bob) Winkler and Linda Hansen-Staver. He leaves behind his mother, Thelma Hansen, of Jacksonville, his wife, Janet, of Sherwood, sons Justin (Crystal) Hansen and Brian (Mitzi) Hansen, grandchildren Catherine Canon, Autumn Hansen and Jaden Hansen, all of Conway, sister Loretta (Chuck) Saunders of Bloomington, IN, and brothers Robert (Janie) Hansen, Ashland City, TN, Jim (Judy) Hansen, Jacksonville, and a host of nieces and nephews. Gene was a research biologist until his retirement. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, but fishing was his passion. His love of family ran deep. We will remember him as a quiet man with a big heart and a gentle soul. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19, with a memorial service following at 2:00, both at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in Sherwood.
