Her life was a living testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and His way of living.
She loved old hymns and gospel music. She loved God and people and she loved to quote verses from the “Roman Road” that she said led her to salvation in Jesus. Like Romans 6:23 “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.”
When she was a young married preacher’s wife, she led music in a small country church.
She loved cooking, cookbooks, flowers, the Goodwill, Potter’s House Thrift Store, cheese dip and French fries and most of all family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, friend, grandma, great grandma and aunt.
If you had a friend in Faye, you had a friend for life.
She loved her family to the fullest. Those who knew Faye, could always find comfort in her presence. She was hilarious and tender hearted. She was the world’s silliest and kindest grandma.
She worked a lot of her life as a cafeteria worker and manager in the North Little Rock public school system.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Lavon Cagle, her second husband, Clark May, her parents and her five siblings. She leaves behind for a little while to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law Pam and Jim Hall; grandchildren Ben and Amy Hall, Jordan Ross, Julie and Chris Schwilling; great-grandchildren Aowyn Hall, Simon Hall, Henry Hall, Miles Ross, Ruby Schwilling and Elliot Schwilling. Also nieces Judy Meeks, Sandy McNabb and Becky and great niece Laura Hum and nephews Larry Meeks, Wayne Fewell and their families.
Even in her 90’s she would play hot wheels, lego’s, and read stories to her great grandchildren. She was full of life. Someone told me that they never saw her without a smile on her face. Her happiness was contagious.
She took regular “fun” trips to Mountainburg dinosaur park to play with her great grandson and eat pizza. She made trips to Little Rock as well to see the “littles”. She loved the older “greats” in Bentonville and was so proud of them. She lived life with a wonderful intentionality.
Faye was full of gratitude, gentleness and grace. Many of her friends called her simply “Sweet Faye”.
Special thanks to Circle of Life Hospice for the incredible care she received in the last week of her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in honor of Faye May to New Heights Church in Fayetteville or West Fork Public Library.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Griffin-Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home. Family will gather for fellowship and a meal at the funeral home immediately following the service.
