I also remember the Mystic Isle Christmas Party where Jean showed her neighbors how to 'cut a rug'. She wore me out after a couple of dances.....she was so good. I also remember the afternoon many years ago when my brother was visiting me and his dog ran Jean's cat up a tree. Even with the tallest ladder borrowed from a neighbor, we still couldn't reach the cat. Then someone remembered that the local utility company was working nearby, so we solicited their help. After about 15 minutes of tree climbing, one of the utility men was able to reach the cat. I stood under the tree with a large pole fishing net, ready to catch the cat in case it slipped away. But no need....the utility man climbed down and handed the cat to Jean, who was grinning from ear to ear.

Dear cousins, children of Jean and Shelby Helmbeck, I am so sorry for the loss of your amazing mother. She has been such an inspiration to me with her strong spirit and encouragement to enjoy life and to maintain a positive attitude. I will always remember her being forever young! Rather than send flowers to her service, I choose to give to an equestrian non profit that assists children with disabilities through their experiences of one of God's most majestic creations, the Horse. Aunt Jean loved horses and understood them so well. I feel giving to a charity that supports horses and helps children will be a loving tribute to Jean Helmbeck.

Jean was a close neighbor of ours in Mystic Isle. Her adventures were always amazing to hear about. I vividly remember our Mystic
Isle Christmas Party one year when we had a live band and Jean was on the dance floor almost all evening just grooving to the beat. We certainly will miss her here. Even though we didn't see each other that often, we always knew she was there if we had a need. It was very nice to be able to meet her beautiful family and see their closeness and positive attitude toward life, which I'm sure was instilled by Jean. We are glad her pain is gone, but a light has gone out around here. Her family has a new "Angel" they know now.
