John was born in Carluke, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, the last of five children of Richard and Annie Henderson. He immigrated to the United States in Feb. 1955, at the age of 20, specifically to join the U S Air Force. His petition for naturalization was granted on May 5, 1959. He served in the U S Air Force from 1955 to 1985. Scotty began his Air Force career as a Loadmaster on the C-124 Globemaster II at Larson AFB, Moses Lake, WA. He followed with assignments at Evreux Air Base, France (where he married his wife Anna on Dec 27, 1963), Lockbourne AFB, OH, RAF Mildenhall, England, Forbes AFB, KS and Little Rock AFB, AR, all in the C-130. His Little Rock assignments included being a Squadron Chief Loadmaster and Wing Chief Loadmaster. After retirement in 1985 as a Chief Master Sergeant (CMSgt), he was hired in a civilian contract position at Little Rock AFB as Chief Instructor of Loadmasters at the C-130 school. He was a mentor and influencer to an entire new generation of future C-130 Loadmasters. Scotty’s legacy continues to this day. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife Anna, son Jacques Goujat, and granddaughter Britney. Survivors include his son, Rémy Henderson (Angela), daughter, Lisa Woodard, daughter, Genevieve Grigsby (Alan), daughter, Veronique Bozick, son, Robert Deraisin (Liliane), 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
