

John Orin Roeder, 89, of Jacksonville, AR, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021. He was born in Hannibal, Wisconsin to parents Cyril and Elsie Roeder. John first served his country in the U. S. Air Force and later joined the U. S. Marine Corps, retiring as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and was awarded the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Presidential Unit Citation, and Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation First Class in addition to numerous other medals and commendations. John loved to serve his country and was very proud to be a U. S. Marine. He was also a good hearted Christian and a member of Life Pentecostal Church in Sherwood.
John is preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory Roeder; and siblings, Paul, Cyril, Dale, Janice, Joanne and Joyce. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Josephine Roeder; daughter, Kari Love; grandchildren, Ashley Muggy and Austin Love; siblings Al Roeder, Marjorie Miano, Francis Davison, Eileen Henderson, Karen Buser and Jean Beaver. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 26th at the Life Pentecostal Church, 7519 Gibson Rd. in Sherwood (Gravel Ridge area). The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
