Johnnie Lee Shinn

Mr. Johnnie Lee Shinn, affectionately known as Dad, Grandpa John and Papa John, earned his heavenly wings on December 16, 2025. He was born in Chunchula, Alabama on December 3, 1934 to the late Mr. John Shinn, Jr. and Rosie Lee Coles.

Upon completion of his secondary education, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served for over 26 years. He earned a host of military awards and decorations, including the Meritorious Service Medal, while attaining the highest enlisted rank, Chief Master Sergeant. After retiring from active duty, he embarked on a successful career in the Department of the Air Force.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of McAlmont Church of Christ.

Johnnie enjoyed serving the Lord through his church and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his generosity and loving spirit.

He is survived by his loving wife Mable, daughters Brenda (Charles) McLaurin of Schertz, TX, Peggy Shinn of Temple, TX, Dana (Garland) Holt of Jacksonville, AR, sons Dan (Sandy) May of DeBary, FL, Dennis (Teresa) May of Manassas, VA, sister Carlotta Russell of Mobile, AL, and brother Martin (Lucy) Shinn of Mobile, AL along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.

While Papa John will be missed, his was a life well spent. To God be the glory for a life of service.
