

Judy Beatrice Smithson of Sherwood passed away on July 30th, 2025 after a two-year battle with cancer. She survived by her two sons John and Michael and granddaughter Kiera. She's also survived by her two sisters Lana Hoggard and Donna Reaves, and a host of nephews and nieces.
Judy was born on April 19th 1947 in Walhalla, North Dakota. She moved to Ola, Arkansas with her family in 1952 and then to Jacksonville the following year she graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1965.
Judy and her two sisters all retired from the state. Judy worked into state capital she was on Governor Clinton's legal staff when he went to Washington she decided to stay here with her family and became an investigator for the ethics Commission ultimately retiring as the business director for the Arkansas Supreme Court.
In retirement she owned two daycare centers and worked for the senate,when the laceration was in session, for seven years, retiring to battle cancer.
Judy was a caring mother and grandmother and wife she always put family first she was always looking out for all of our best interest she will be missed very dearly.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband John Smithson, who passed away on June 9th 2017. They will be inurned at the same time. Judy kept Corky close to her.
Judy was also preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Lena (Richot) Hurley. Her older sister Nancy and three brother,Charles,John, and Robert.
Judy's family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers if it's difficult time. They would also like to thank Griffin Leggett Rest Hills, for their care of Judy. She will be in our hearts and forever will be a cherished part of our lives.
