My "Sister Friend" Nina, who I love dearly. I'm grateful for the love her mom ( Aunt Yolanda) and (Pastor Nick) dad had for me. Not only do they love me, but I love them. That gave me the opportunity to have a home away from home when we were kids. Nina and I had recently talked and laughed when we thought of all of our slip n slide days. That's when we used trash bags and dish soap to run, slide, and have fun. She had me laughing when she said how surprised she was to know we didn't go blind. We were kids, but that didn't matter we'd do it even as adults, if we could. We set and shared how in both of our lives trial's came, but through it all we had to continue trusting God. I love you Nina and I will miss you! It's not a goodbye, but see you later! To the family: Herb, Savannah, Malachi,Gabby, Levi, Aunt Yolanda, Pastor Nick, Sara, and Nickolas, I love you all and will continue to keep you in my prayers; asking Jesus to comfort and strengthen you all.
I love you!

When we moved from Louisiana to Arkansas, my son, Brandon was in 4th grade at the time, and was previously in a public school. When we enrolled him at Calvary Academy, Sis. Pete volunteered at the school and helped my son get up to speed in his reading abilities. She always portrayed a sweet spirit that made you want to do better. She was loved by everyone that knew her. She will be missed greatly.

The Lord only knows about some of our private conversations where we laughed, cried, and hyped each other up all in one sitting. We did not meet by chance. Our husbands were deployed together and mine called me one day and told me he had set some things up and a young lady would be stopping by our house that night so she could talk to her husband. It was Nina...Nina Pete. She walked in, we introduced ourselves, and hugged.

If I had to describe the moment, it was like fresh ink from the tip of a permanent marker meeting paper to begin forming the first word of our stories as friends. I was pregnant with our first rainbow baby and my husband was not there to experience it with me. She immediately got creative, pulled one of my sheets from MY closet 😂 and got one of her outfits she just so happened to have had in her car. She took MY camera and said we are TAKING these pictures for your man. If you know Nina, you know how lively and spontaneous that moment was. She wanted to make sure I got to share the belly with Larry. Who would have thought...she came over that particular night because my husband wanted to link her and her husband by telephone and she ended up helping us.

From that moment on we continued to make memories and She and Herb’s presence in our lives became more like family rather than friends. They had no kids at the time and were still considered newlyweds. Years later they were/are still a beautiful part of our lives. To my feisty friend with the golden soul, your light shall forever be bright in my heart and my memories. We love you beyond words. Thank you for finding us worthy of being you all’s friends. I will love you forever and ever, ever.
💋 xoxo 💔😔

I love you Bestie
One of my favorite memories with Nina, we had spring break early & I talked her into going to the beach. It was the coldest beach trip ever! We had to wear tennis shoes, jackets & blankets just to sit by the beach. Nina & the kids were so excited she had her beach hat ready, she loved that hat! We had so much fun building mermaid tails out of sand for the girls & sand castles with the boys! Then at night I wanted to sit on the balcony & watch the moon over the beach. It was freezing but Nina would not let me sit alone. Nina grabbed her blanket & we talked, cried & prayed about life. Our friendship meant so much to me God knew we needed the Pete Family! Praying for peace & comfort for all her sweet children & husband. Until we meet again my friend. Love Stephanie & Noah Maple

To know Nina Vasquez Pete, was one of the greatest blessings one could encounter. To know her, was to love her immediately! To know her was to witness one of the most faithful, courageous servants of His kingdom. I called her Wonder Woman- because I have yet to meet another who walked in such Wonder. I will miss you my sweet friend. See you on the other side. #fightlikeNina #livelikeNina

I will always remember Nina’s question “ You need anything?”. She asked me this many times, sometimes when she was the one in need. I loved this special friend of mine. I know she loved and wanted to be a help to her friends and family. She was a gem! Praying for the Pete and Vasquez families.
