Russell Marlin Lay, age 91, passed away on February 26, 2026, at his home in Jacksonville, Arkansas. Born July 19, 1934, in Valley Park, Missouri, Russell will be remembered as a brave, devoted, hard-working, honest, and wise man who lived with quiet strength and steadfast purpose. He was retired from the Air Force.
An avid golfer, Russell had a talent that could have taken him to the professional level, but he chose a military career instead. He served 23 years in the Military as a Master Sergeant in the Airforce, a path that reflected his dedication and discipline.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lay, daughter, D’Ann Charter, son, James Lay and siblings Marvin, Loucille, and Pat.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Russell Lay and his wife Debbie Roach; grandchildren Brian Criswell, Lisa Adams, Trish Reppenhagen, Amber Lay, Aaron Lay, Allicia Lay, Kaylea Kobyluck (Thomas), Gabriel Lay, Josh Lay, Libby Lay, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and so many that loved him.
A Graveside Service will be held at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR 72117, on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
