

Steven M. Heye, age 69, of Little Rock passed away on November 26, 2025. Born to Merlin and the late Shirley Heye, Steven was a loving husband to his wife, Meribeth. He is survived by his wife, Meribeth, his father Merlin Heye of Ocala, Florida, his brother Andrew Heye and wife Karen of Centreville, Virginia, as well as his nephews, Nicholas and Alec of Virginia.
Steven had an immense love for the outdoors, which was evident through his passion for hiking. He shared this love with others by organizing and leading monthly hikes for several years, always searching for the most beautiful scenery and challenging terrain. His enthusiasm for hiking was not only about the journey, but also about the camaraderie with those who accompanied him. Steven reached the highest peaks in 45 states, with the final one being Mt. Whitney, a testament to his dedication and love for the outdoors.
A proud Eagle Scout, Steven continued his love for nature and adventure throughout his life. He was also a graduate of Memphis State University, where he earned his degree from the Herff College of Engineering. After graduating, Steven worked for the Arkansas Department of Transportation for 33 years, retiring with pride. Even after retirement, he continued to hike and travel to different states and countries with his beloved wife, Meribeth.
Steven's contributions to his community and his dedication to the things he loved will always be remembered. He was a man who valued hard work, commitment, and the simple joys of life, especially those found in nature. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who knew him.
