

Howard B. Berger, 95, of Hollywood, Fl passed away peacefully on July 20, 2014. A prominent Public Affairs Administrator, Metropolitan Dade County Department of Tourism and the City of Miami for over 35 years, Mr. Berger was recognized for his many professional and charitable activities. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Normadine nee Boxer, father to Bruce ( Zoe) and Mitchel ( Joan), Grandchildren, Lindsay, Alex, Brett, Rayna Pre deceased by 5 siblings , Rose, Beatrice, Lillian, Joseph and Milton and his best friend Murry Sims Born to a Hungarian Jewish family in Mc Keesport, Pa on Feb 26, 1919, graduated from McKeesport High School. He went to the University of Missouri School of Journalism on a Basketball Scholarship. Was drafted to the Army in 1942 to being honorably discharged when the war ended in 1945. Then met the love of his life, Normadine in Miami, married Jan 27, 1946. Had two devoted sons. Retired in 1984 after 35 years with the Metropolitan Dade County and the City of Miami Tourism Dept He traveled all over south America and Central America to increase tourism to Miami. He also was a Member of Sigma Delta Chi , Journalism Fraternity and the Public relations Society of America. He was representative for Miami Tourism for South and Central America , giving away free coconuts. Howard hired a small plane which would spray orange blossom perfume over the fairgrounds where these meetings took place. Member of Missouri Basketball team. Howard always found time to spend with his family and his longtime friend , Murry Sims . He loved taking his two sons to sporting events in Miami. Howard made a mark in this world for so many people. Funeral services Wednesday , July 23, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 NW 25 St, Doral, Fl In Lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be to a charity of choice.
