

Anna Marie “Nicole” Dorvil was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on August 22, 2023, at age 87.
She was born to Anita Fouche and Emile Jean Baptiste on February 17, 1936, in Cap-Haitian, Haiti. She is the granddaughter of Luciann Fayette “Grann Tina” and Luc Fouche. She attended nursing school at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, and graduated with her nursing degree on May 10, 1965.
After graduating, she moved to New York to pursue her career in nursing. During her time in New York, Anna reconnected with Vastey Dorvil and the two married. They went on to have three children: Judith, Vastey Jr., and John. Subsequently, the family relocated to Miami in 1975 where she lived for over 45 years.
Anna's dedication to the field of nursing, with experience in hospitals and a long-standing commitment to the Price Family Health Center in Liberty City, Miami, is truly commendable. Her work as a nurse involved caring for patients, providing medical expertise, and making a positive impact on the health and well-being of her community. Nursing requires compassion, skill, and a deep sense of responsibility, and it's clear that Anna embodied these qualities.
Furthermore, her determination to provide her children with a Catholic education and support their journey to university demonstrates her strong commitment to their future. She believed that education was a valuable gift, and she ensured her children had the resources and opportunities they needed to succeed academically. In addition, she loved her sisters and brothers and also nurtured them as well as other family members throughout her life. She called her loved ones daily to make sure they were doing well.
She had a deep faith in the Catholic Church and found solace and fulfillment in attending Mass regularly. Her connection to her faith was an important part of her life. Additionally, she loved gardening, particularly the cultivation of fruit trees, and enjoyed nurturing her garden alongside her husband. Her joy for life was infectious and her laughter brought everyone joy. She was loved by all who met her and will be greatly missed.
Anna's role as a healer and an intellect showcases her multifaceted talents and her dedication to making a difference in the lives of those around her. Her contributions to both healthcare and education undoubtedly will leave a lasting legacy.
Anna is preceded in death by her parents Anita Fouche and Emile Jean Baptiste, her husband, Vastey Dorvil; brother, Pierre Fouche; sister, Olga” Fifi” Fouche; and her son, Vastey Dorvil, Jr. She is survived by her daughter Judith M. Dorvil and son John E. Dorvil; her grandchildren Julia and Theo Dorvil; her sisters, Christiane Bazin, Danielle Despinose, and Michelle Fouche; and her brother, Theogene “Theo” Fouche.
