Colbert was born on June 21, 1936, in the vibrant town of Saint-Louis du Nord, Haiti. His journey began at La Pointe De•. Palmistes, where the seeds of craftsmanship were planted. With a heart full of ambition, he left Haiti for the Bahamas, where he honed his skills as a carpenter across the islands of Nassau, Freeport, and Abaco. It was during this time that he forged meaningful connections, including with his first wife, Floride, and welcomed two beautiful daughters, Nichole and Celita, into the world. In 1976, driven by hope for a brighter future, he set sail for the United States.
Settling in North Miami Beach, Colbert embraced a new path in public safety with Miami Dade College, starting in 1978. During this time he met his second love, Manecia, and together they welcomed two more cherished children, Steve and Joan. Colbert poured his heart into fatherhood, striving to create a nurturing and prosperous life for his family. He found joy in the great outdoors, relishing moments spent with loved ones and his passion for vintage cars.
After 23 dedicated years with Miami Dade College, Colbert retired in 2001, entering a new chapter alongside his life partner, Lanecia. This time was filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of family gatherings, surrounded by friends and the joyous laughter of his grandchildren.
Until his passing, Colbert approached each day with gratitude, embracing life's blessings. He had an uncanny ability to bring smiles to those around him, always ready with a cherished story from the past. A man of faith and conviction, he held a profound love for God, leaving behind a legacy of love and joy that will resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
