He was born on November 11, 1952, in Saint-Marc, Haiti, to the late Fred Willy and Melinda Boniface. Jean was raised in a close-knit family alongside his siblings, Frederick and Mona Willy.
Jean was the devoted father of Rutherford Willy, Nadia Willy, Marie Dolores Willy, Widelene Willy, Jean Erick Willy, Jean Peterson Willy, Jean Ricardo Willy, and Jean Nelson Willy. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of many years, Marie Solange Willy, whom he deeply loved and honored.
In 1981, Jean began building his life in Miami, Florida, where he met and married Marie Solange. Known for his strong work ethic, generous heart, and sense of humor, Jean was a steadfast provider and protector for his family. He worked for 28 years in hospital service roles, including at the University of Miami Hospital and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and later retired from Jackson Memorial Hospital as a Hospital Transporter. He approached his work with reliability, integrity, and pride, always committed to a job well done.
Faith was the cornerstone of Jean’s life. He was an active member of Notre Dame d’Haiti Catholic Church, and his favorite scripture was Colossians 3:23-24: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” Jean lived this verse daily through his love for God and service to others.
Jean’s life was a testament to love, loyalty, and unwavering faith. He was the kind of neighbor who knew everyone by name and greeted them with a smile or story. His presence brought comfort and connection to the entire block.
Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we rejoice in knowing he is at peace. We will forever hold close the smiles, laughter, and wisdom he leaves behind.
The family of Jean Seide Willy would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers who walked with him in his final season of life.
