Marie Junie Georges was born on October 20th, 1950, to Philoria Georges (deceased) and Julien Georges (deceased) in her beloved city of Quartier Morin, in the North of Haiti. She was the third of four children. Her biological parents passed away when she was a toddler, and she was raised by her oldest sister, Veronique Latortue Torchon (deceased).
She completed her primary and secondary studies in Haiti. Later, she enrolled in a trade school where she mastered the art of sewing. She began crafting clothing for people in her community, showcasing remarkable skill. Eventually, she met and married Wilfrid Nicolas, and children were born from that union.
In pursuit of a better life for her family, she migrated to Aruba, where she resided and worked for about two years. Continuously seeking improved opportunities, she later decided to move to Miami, Florida, in February 1984.
She secured her first job at Jean Sanders Sewing Factory, utilizing the skills she had acquired in Haiti. Driven by a desire for more opportunities for her family and herself, she made the decision to return to school. After training as a Certified Nursing Assistant, she secured a professional employment at South Shore Hospital. She held that position until health reasons prevented her from continuing. Despite recovering from her medical condition, she was compelled to take early retirement and never had the chance to re-enter the workforce.
Mommy was a devoted Christian woman. Guided by her principles and understanding of Adventism, she joined the Jerusalem SDA Church—a community she cherished. Devoting countless hours, she served as a leader in various capacities such as the children's classes, Sabbath School superintendent, Dorcas leader, deaconess, prayer warrior, and in many other roles. Mommy never waited to be asked; she was always ready to serve. Her belief was clear: any service rendered to God's children in His church was ultimately an act for His glory.
In April 2023, she fell ill again, a sickness that led to multiple hospitalizations. Despite her declining health, her love for God, faith, and family continued to shine brightly. She embraced the understanding that departure doesn't signify the end. On January 6, 2024, she took her last breath, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
Her sudden departure leaves behind a loving family and a multitude of friends.
