Rafael "Rafito" Monterroza Jr.

He attended John F. Kennedy Middle School in North Miami Beach where he won state championship in wrestling in the 105 weight category.

To loved ones he was known as Ralphy (Rafito). His passion included guitar, ocean water sports and overall athletic activities and mostly his motorcycle. Second generation pilot he was recognized in 2012 by the Federal Aviation Administration for his accomplishments and was awarded the “Gold Seal Flight Instructor Certificate”. After flying for a regional airline on the CRJ Jet he joined Florida West Airlines and flew the Boeing 767. In 2013 Ralphy joined Atlas Air Cargo becoming the youngest pilot at Atlas. He served as a First Officer on the 747-400 jumbo jet flying international worldwide routes. Ralphy was a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University were he graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Aeronautical Science. At the time of his tragic lost he was working on completing his Bachelors’ Degree.

He will be missed dearly by his family, friends and coworkers. He had a generous spirit and always carried a great smile that we will never forget. His presence brought a positive energy and he always brought people together. Ralphy, we will always miss you
