Born on June 30, 1950, in Grand Rivière du Nord, Haiti. Eddy was the 4th born out of 10 siblings. This is where he took his first steps in education attending Frères de L'instruction Chrétienne. There he learned not only to read and write, but also to develop respect, discipline, and values that became the foundation of his life. He was such a believer in the power of Education that he went on to advance his studies at Ecole Nationale d'Etudes Supérieures Cap-Haitien, Haiti.
Eddy wasn't just a model student, he was a sportsman who wore the colors of his neighborhood soccer team, the Dragon, with pride. On the field, he showed not only talent, but determination, team spirit, and courage, values that followed him in every aspect of his life. Rodney had a special passion, sewing. He learned the trade with love and precision. Every stab he took brought care, patience, and joy. The profession was not merely a job for him, but a way of creating, nurturing, and responding to the needs of those around him. He was also a pharmacist technician.
In 1985 Rodney embarked on a relentless journey to the United States of America in search of a better life for his family. There he acquired a lot of different trades, cook, airport staff, and more recently providing dietician aide to nursing homes. Every day, he got up and worked tirelessly to make sure that his family gets what they need, sometimes working multiple jobs to make ends meet.
Though he embraced many roles in life, he wore each with grace and dedication. Above all, he was a devoted family man. Always listening, guiding, and providing with unwavering commitment. His gentle heart and boundless love illuminated the lives of those around him, inspiring us to trust in God’s plan and to choose love in all things.
Rodney “Eddy” Florvil is lovingly survived by his three siblings: Darius, Irma, and Wilfrid; his children: Wylem Florvil, Emsdy Florvil, Kathleen Florvil, Junior Florvil, Amsterly Florvil, Rodline Florvil, and Modelyne Florvil; and 31 cherished grandchildren. He also leaves behind a devoted circle of family and friends whose lives he profoundly touched. His legacy endures in them, shining through every act of kindness and every leap of faith.
