Arlene H. Horvath, age 93, of Lake Park, passed away in her home on Tuesday, December 9. Arlene grew up on a farm in Pettisville, OH, and attended college at BGSU where she met Edward, the love of her life. In 1942 they were married in the chapel in Camp Blanding, FL while Ed was on leave from the Army. In 1944, he was sent overseas to serve in WWII, during which time Arlene taught school in OH. After the war, they settled in Olmsted Falls, OH and Pittsburgh, PA where they raised their 2 children. In 1975, they moved to Florida where they owned and operated the Mermaid Apts. in Palm Beach Shores for 10 years before retiring to Lake Park.
Born on Christmas Day, she was a special gift from God. She lived a Christian life and inspired others by her kind words and deeds. As a stay-at-home mom, she did the secretarial work for Ed's business. She taught Sunday school, worked with special-needs children, and spent many hours at church.
Arlene is survived by her children, Jeanne Pfeiffer (Matt) and David Horvath (Peggy); her grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Jonathan and Leah; and four great-granddaughters. She was loved and will be deeply missed, but will be complete once again in her reunion with Ed.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 20 at 2PM at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 3395 Burns Road, Palm Beach Gardens, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to St. Mark’s Outreach Fund, Hospice of Palm Beach County or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and event Center.
