

Arthur White Yount, M.D., 89 years old of North Palm Beach, FL passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. Born in Statesville, N.C. to his parents Margery Rebecca White and Harold Horace Yount he attended local schools and volunteered and served with the Merchant Marine in the waning days of WWII. He graduated from the Citadel and Duke University and did his internship at Letterman Army Hospital then served in the Korean War as a Army Captain where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He completed his training as a resident in medicine at Emory University and Fellow of Medicine at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. There he met his devoted wife of 57 years, Margaret Mary Styslinger. They married in 1959 and spent three years in Pikeville, KY., where he served as Chief of Medicine at Miners Hospital. He and his wife decided they would like to live in Florida and settled on North Palm Beach. He was the first Internist/Cardiologist in the area and practiced there for fifty years. He served on the staffs of St. Mary's hospital, Good Samaritan, Palm beach Gardens Medical Center and Jupiter Medical Center. He is survived by his loving wife, his three children, Margaret Yount Hattman and her husband, Michael, Arthur W. Yount, Jr. and his wife, Reagan, and Rebecca Lee Yount Sibley and her husband, Christopher; Seven grandchildren, Michael and Maggie Hattman, Meredith and Arthur III Yount and Madison, Catherine and Christopher Sibley. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center from 3:00pm until 5:00pm with a Memorial Service at 3:30pm with Chaplain David Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice at Jupiter Medical Center or the charity of your choice.
