I came to America at the age of 6 as an immigrant to  Roosevelt elementary school in 1997 and man was that hard until I entered the doors of Ms. A's class. Mrs. Romano who was Ms. aboujaoude at the time was the most wonderful teacher a child could ever have.  She told us to call her Ms. A because it was so difficult for us to say her name.  I am now 29 years old and for some reason s, I wished to find her so I could tell her what impact she made in my life.  I have small memories of being in her class but as a 6-year old, I can recall her sitting us down to teach us about space and dinosaurs. She spoke about her home country of Lebanon and I found the flag in the back of a dictionary I received for my birthday and highlighted it. Her spirit was exceptional truly a beautiful soul and for a six-year-old to see that speaks wonders about the person that she was.  

I am saddened to know that she passed away and really wish to share to her family if they see this the wonderful blessing she was to me and all her students. 

Mrs.Romano was my daughter's (Erica Terry) 3rd grade teacher.  Erica is now in 8th grade and has never felt as inspired and loved as she did in that class.  Mrs.Romano was an amazing teacher and person.  She taught Erica, and me, so much.  She knew Erica wanted to be a chef so the summer after 3rd grade, she took Erica to her restaurant and had Chef Leo give her a tour of the kitchen and she helped him cook some linguini with tomato basil sauce.  That is still Erica's signature dish.  She made it in honor of Mrs.Romano after her death.  She will always be remembered by us as a loving, selfless person and teacher.  She will be sorely missed.

An incredible woman who has touched the lives of so many, your positive attitude and seemingly endless strength has taught me to accept each day and embrace it as it is. 

You will always hold a special place in our hearts, Mrs. Romano.  Logan will forever cherish his mornings with you that always ended with a smile and a...

"You bring the coffee and I'll see ya tomorrow".

There are no words I can offer that will make this any easier, Bernie was helpful, kind and cheerful, she cared about the family, and she will be sorely missed.

I remember Bernadette as a beautiful fourth grader whose classroom presence was larger than life although English was not one of the languages she knew at the time.  I remember Bernadette as a beautiful, proud young mother and teacher, graciously hosting me, her former teacher, making me feel so proud to have been part of her life.  My heart breaks for the loss to your family.

"A mother holds her child's hand for a short while, but she will hold the heart forever." We were blessed by her grace, strength, and wonderful sense of humour. She will always be loved.

Our deepest sympathy for your tremendous loss...you are in ours prayers as you begin your journey with the Lord.

Bernie was so strong and so giving that she was the one I leaned on during the scariest time in my life, even though she was jumping her own hurdles. Perhaps we leaned on each other. "We need to stick together and pray that God knows what is best for us," she would say. I admired her fight, her love for her family, her faith, and her moxi for life. I suspect her job in heaven will be to boss the angels around and then tell them a good joke afterwards. Her humor helped all of us deal with what she was going through. How ironic that even with her own mountains to climb, she put her friends and family first by putting us at ease. Fly angel... You fought the good fight.

What a beautiful person you were inside and out. I feel very blessed to have known you. I know you are singing with the angels now If You Could See Me Now! You fought a good fight Bernadette! You had tremendous faith and I admired you and your spirit. God has just taken another one of his angels. I will miss you, but I plan to see you again. I would like to remember Bernadette as a wonderfully strong and nurturing person.  She was a gardener of people:  not only helping her students learn and grow, but helping everyone around her to become tall, straight and proud, with faces turned toward the sun.   We are all better people for the love and attention she sprinkled on us.  The best way to honor her memory is to continue to let her garden thrive, and do the same for other people.  My heart goes out to Mia, Angelo, Gracia, Gilberte, and all of her family members.

Bernadette was always willing to give advice and always made us remember that we had so much to be thankful for.  She will not be forgotten.
