Carol obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from the College of Staten Island. She followed her vocation and became a registered nurse spending nearly 20 years working in the emergency room at Lutheran Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center in Brooklyn NY, where the stories of those she cared for are too many to recount. Before retiring to Florida, Carol spent the majority of her life as a New Yorker having been raised in Woodside Queens, living some of her early years in Brooklyn and eventually settling down and raising her son in Staten Island. She lived an incredibly active life. She was an accomplished scuba diver, avid skier and winner of multiple racquetball tournaments. She enjoyed backpacking, traveling and adventure. She spoke fondly of her time singing in the choir at St. Albans Episcopal Church. She doted on her dogs Bill and Amber. Carol loved flan, champagne, good laughs with friends, being a great wife and the best mom.
Carol is predeceased by her mother and father, Carmen (nee: Maldonado) and Philip Almash and her brother, Raul Gandara.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Cinquemani; her son, James Reilly and daughter-in-law, Kristen Reilly; as well as her dear cousins, Janet Tracy Desjardins, Elliot Abascal and Roger Gorrin.
She’ll be remembered for her beautiful smile, her infectious laugh and the way she brightened every room she entered. A true force of nature, there is no doubt that she was very special and she will be missed.
