
Charlotte Davenport Tuttle died at the age of 98 in Juno Beach, Florida. She was born July 4, 1919, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to Robert Hamilton Davenport and Hazel May Whitcomb. She was brought up in Pittsfield, and graduated from The Masters School, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., in 1937 and Sweet Briar College, Sweet Briar, Va., in 1941.
Mrs. Tuttle was a member of the Pittsfield Junior League. She attended Berkshire Business College and in New York City worked at Time magazine before joining the American Red Cross in 1943 in club work with occupation troops in Italy and Germany. She married John Tyler Tuttle, who predeceased her in March 2017, in 1947.
After living in New York, they moved to Oneida, N.Y., where Mr. Tuttle owned and published the Oneida Daily Dispatch. Mrs. Tuttle served on the boards of the Salvation Army and American Red Cross and at one time was co-chairman of the American Red Cross bloodmobile in Sherrill, N.Y.
Following Mr. Tuttle's retirement, they moved to N. Chatham, Mass. where they lived until moving to Florida after the turn of the century. There, she belonged at one time to the Royal Poinciana Chapel in Palm Beach, the Tequesta Country Club, and the English Speaking Union of Palm Beach.
She is survived by her son, J. Tyler Tuttle Jr., of Paris, France (spouse Claire), daughters Winslow Tuttle (spouse Tobias Van Buren) of Vero Beach, Fl., and Susan Tuttle, of Oakland, Ca., two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
