Donald J Kazimir, 91, died April 27, 2026. Born July 8, 1934, Don grew up in Walkhill, New York, where he was a wonderful older brother to two sisters. He graduated from Walkhill High School in 1952 and went on to earn a degree in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University in New York City in 1958.
A man of steady faith and honest purpose, Don lived with a quiet compassion that showed itself in the way he worked, served, and gave. He was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1958 and resigned as a Lieutenant in 1967. From 1967 to 1971, he served as a Submarine Captain on the Ben Franklin in Bethpage, New York—an assignment that reflected both his hard-working discipline and his selfless commitment to duty.
Don brought that same diligence and integrity to his civilian career. He served as Manager of Operations at Access Ltd. in Toronto from 1973 to 1974, and then became Founder and Partner of Solar Development, Inc. in Riviera Beach, Florida, where he worked from 1974 to 1998. Later, from 1998 to 2016, he served as Director of the Office of Respect Life for Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Palm Beach, a role that matched his generous spirit and faithful conviction.
On June 6, 1964, Don married Leila E. Kazimir. He was the proud father of Donna Marie Kazimir King (married to Chris King) and Alicia Jean Kazimir Simpson (deceased). He was also a devoted grandfather to Matthew King, David King, Leila King, Luke Simpson, Megan Simpson, Sean Simpson, and Logan Simpson.
Don’s life was deeply rooted in community and parish. He was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church from 1967 to 2026. He served as Village Councilman for the Village of North Palm Beach from 1976 to 1980, and later as an Audit Committee Member from 2020 to 2024—roles he approached with sincerity, fairness, and a sense of responsibility to others. Don lived in North Palm Beach, Florida.
Among his personal interests, Don held enduring passions for pro-life support and solar water heating systems. He also enjoyed golf and baseball, finding in them simple pleasures and shared moments that complemented a life defined by service.
Don will be remembered for his sincerity in every area of his life, and for his selfless concern for his family, friends, and co-workers. As his family reflects on his life, they return to the words that captured his guiding purpose: Don answered God’s call to care for his family, defend the unborn, and bring God’s love to all.
A Funeral Service will be held at St Clare Catholic Church, 821 Prosperity Farms Road, North Palm Beach, FL 33408, on May 6, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
A Committal Service will be held at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 FL-7, Lake Worth, FL 33449, on May 11, 2026, at 11:00 am.
In honor of Don, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, any monetary donations be made to Catholic Charities Respect Life, which assists with pregnancy care needs.
