Elna Carolyn Downs

Carolyn Knox Downs age 88, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, passed away peacefully on January 26th, 2022, at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, under the care of Hospice. Carolyn was born on February 24th, 1933, in West Palm Beach, Florida.

In 1922 Carolyn’s family moved from Miami to West Palm Beach and she has been a resident of Palm Beach County her entire life. Carolyn married her high school sweetheart Robert Downs and enjoyed 63 years of marriage. Together they raised a wonderful family. She helped with their business for 25 years, Robert Downs Construction Company building many beautiful homes throughout Palm Beach County. Her favorite things were spending time with her family, traveling, gardening at her North Carolina home, painting, nature, the ocean, and finding treasures.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Downs Sr. She was a loving mother to her two sons, Robert Downs Jr. and David Downs; two daughters, Karen Downs, and Nancy (Mark) Davis; A cherished grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Rob (Courtney) Downs, Kelly (Stuart) Pittman, Mark (Cassie) Downs, Christina Downs, Brandon Downs, Ryan (Jenna) Davis and Michelle Davis; Adored great grandmother to six great-grandchildren: Logan Downs, Brooke and Madison Downs, Knox and Levi Pittman and Taylor Davis; a caring sister-in-law to Jackie Downs and Frances Knox; she was adored by her many nieces and nephews; and wonderful friends and neighbors.

Celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 12th at 10:00 am at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 3395 Burns Road, Palm Beach Gardens, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trustbridge Hospice Foundation 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407 or charity of choice.
