Gregory Macri, age 64, born on November 5, 1958, of Ogunquit, Maine and North Palm Beach, Florida died peacefully in the early morning on January 11th. It is impossible to comprehend how after a morning of tennis and an afternoon lunch with his tennis team that he would die during the night.
Greg’s greatest joy in life was his son Josh; Josh was not only his son but his best friend. They shared a bond that not many people ever have the opportunity to know. Greg passed on his strength to Josh who will carry it with him forever. This past year brought more joy to Greg when Josh married Morgan in July 2022. She brought extra love into our home.
Greg and his wife Susan shared an amazing life together. They met in September of 1977 at Boston University and married on July 11, 1981. They were not only husband and wife but they were the best of friends. While they worked hard to build a life they spent most of their free time together. After retiring last year they began to navigate their “new life” together. They lived in two places he loved: Ogunquit and his new winter home in North Palm Beach.
Greg loved playing tennis. He was a true competitor and although he played for fun, he always said “it is more fun to win”. He also took great pride in landscaping his yard in Ogunquit. He loved watching the Patriots, especially with Josh. When they could not watch together they were in constant communication during the game. He loved the beach but most of all he loved his family.
Greg spent 41 years working in the speciality chemical business where he was well respected by colleagues and customers.
Greg is survived by his wife Susan, son Josh, daughter-in-law Morgan, his siblings; Lynn Macri, Glen Macri, Garrison Macri, In-laws; Samuel Shapiro (father-in-law) Donna Macri, Kathy Marshall, Jeffery Shapiro, Eric Shapiro, Lynn Shapiro; nieces; Kailea Shapiro, Lauren Shapiro, Alison Shapiro, Jenna Macri; Nephews; Adam Shapiro, Colin Macri, Ryan Macri, Cameron Macri, Connor Shapiro, friends who are family: Steve and Gail Ruby and David and Gail Leon and many friends.
Greg is preceded in death by his mother and father, Gregory and Betty-Ann Macri, his sister Cheryl Macri and his mother-in-law, Carol Shapiro.
In lieu of flowers, Greg would want you to take some time with the ones you love to do something you love.
Susan and family will host friends, who wish to pay their respects, at their North Palm Beach home on Sunday, January 15th from 2 - 5 pm.
Arrangements will be made to celebrate Greg’s life in Maine this summer.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.howard-quattlebaum.com for the Macri family.
