Jessica Rose Makris passed away on May 28, 2017 after a courageous, lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis; she was 33 years young. She is survived by her mother (Judy), father (Paul), brother (PJ) sister-in-law (Joy) and niece (Holly), as well as numerous Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and extended Family everywhere.
Jessica was a light in the darkness of this world, loved and adored by all she met. She was an inspiration to be more kind, loving, more grateful for the time we have and to be more determined in our goals and ambitions.
Jessica came into this world on February 22, 1984. She was very ill and was not expected to live through that night. In her true determined fashion, she not only lived, but went on to graduate college, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations from the University of Florida. She fought to maintain her health and live a normal life, never complained about her situation, and worked to advance CF research.
Jessica will be greatly missed, not only by her family and loved ones, but by those many lives she touched in countless ways. We could all strive to be more like Jessica, and if you knew her, then you understand. A celebration of life will be held at Palm Beach Gardens High School, on Saturday June 24, at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) at www.cotaforjessicam.com
Be the change you wish to see in the world.
