

Joan Vogt Aubrey, age 83 of North Palm Beach, FL, beloved wife and mother, passed away after a long illness with Alzheimer’s disease on February 20, 2017. Joan was born on April 27, 1933 in Goshen, NY, the daughter of Morton S Vogt and Blanche Clark. Her early years were spent in Goshen, NY and White City, FL. She was a lifelong vocalist, having majored in Voice at Bob Jones University and served as soloist and choir director in her churches for many years. She earned a BA in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Houston, an MA in the same field from Louisiana State University and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. She and her husband lived in a number of places throughout her life; Baytown, TX, Far Hills, NJ, Houston, TX, Baton Rouge, LA, and Wilton, CT before finally settling in North Palm Beach. Early in her career she was the choir director of the Northwood Baptist Church in West Palm Beach and hosted a weekly TV show sponsored by the church. She was a Speech and Language Pathologist in the Danbury Public Schools in Danbury, CT for a number of years before retiring in 1997 and moving to North Palm Beach with her husband in 2002. In North Palm Beach she served as the Village Historian from 2003 to 2010. She is survived by and will be missed by her loving husband of 59 years, Darryl Aubrey, by her sister Helen Vogt Greene, wife of Elvin Greene III, of Lake worth, FL, by three children Debra Aubrey of Phoenix, AZ, Morton Aubrey of Houston, TX and David Aubrey of Springfield, NJ and two grandchildren Nadeera and William Aubrey of Springfield, NJ. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Howard Quattlebaum Funeral Home on Route 1 in North Palm Beach at 5 pm on Thursday February 23. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday February 24 at the First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach on Prosperity Farms Road. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association will be appreciated by the family.
