
We are sad to announce Lenne Ann Gapstur passed away peacefully at home in North Palm Beach, Florida on June 25th, 2023 at the age of 80. Lenne was born on January 6th, 1943 to the late Joseph and Hannah Gapstur in Ashland, Ohio where she was raised.
Lenne attended The Laurel School in Shaker Heights, Ohio and graduated from Trinity College in Washington D.C. in 1965. She received a Masters in English from John Carol University in University Heights, Ohio in 1966. She taught high school English and then college English at Marymount College in Boca Raton, Florida in 1968. Lenne then moved to Boston, Massachusetts and worked at Suffolk University while attending their law school. She graduated in 1976 and relocated to North Palm Beach, Florida where she began to practice law. For the next forty plus years Lenne specialized in Estate Planning, Estate Administration and Estate Taxation.
Lenne was a voracious reader, often reading two or three books at a time. Her other passions were caring for her beloved orchids, cooking wonderful gourmet meals which she loved to share with family and friends and collecting recipes. Her cookbook collection was second to none. But more than anything Lenne loved visiting and spoiling her nieces and nephews and their children. She always sent unique and intriguing gifts for every birthday, holiday or special occasion.
In addition to her parents, Lenne was predeceased by her brother, Jeffrey as well as her loving husband Kenneth Smith whom she met while teaching in Florida and reconnected with many years later. They married in 1998 in Chatham New York.
She is survived by her brother, James (Isabelle) Gapstur from Harwich Port, Massachusetts, her sister-in-law, Linda Gapstur, from Stuart, Florida, her stepsons, Sean Smith from Los Angeles, California and Christopher Smith (Thomasina) from Dobbs Ferry, New York, her step-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Olivia, Caitlin, Francesca, Brendan, Owen and Lucas, her nieces and nephews, John (Amy) Gapstur from Plymouth, Massachusetts and Alicia (Jonathan) Regan from Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts, Christopher (Amilie) Gapstur from Vero Beach, Florida and Devin (Michael) Tesmer from Saint Petersburg, Florida, and her grand nieces and nephews, Cameron, Emma, Jackson and Sofia.
Lenne will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor and devotion to her family. She will be dearly missed.
