Maria Teresa DiPasquale Nissen, known affectionately to all as Terri, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, intellect, and dedication. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1954, Terri was a proud first-generation Italian-American, the daughter of Richard John DiPasquale and Dina Tosti DiPasquale.
Terri’s academic journey was marked by excellence. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary and Maryvale Prep before becoming a trailblazer as a member of the first class of women admitted to Johns Hopkins University. She went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of Maryland School of Law, where she earned distinction as Editor of the Law Review.
A pioneer in her field, Terri was one of the first women hired as an associate at the prestigious Gunster law firm shortly after completing her legal education. Her career was a testament to her brilliance, dedication, and resilience.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Terri found joy in her family life. She married her devoted husband, Peter Nissen, and together they had a son, Brody Nissen, who was the pride of her life. Terri’s love for her family was immeasurable, and her influence as a wife, mother, and sister will be felt forever.
She is survived by her husband Peter, her son Brody, her sister Carla DiPasquale D’Amato, (Jim), her sister-in-law Karen Nissen (Skip), her brother-in-law Eric Nissen (Jane) nephews Austin Cramer, Christian Nissen, William Nissen, niece Eleanor Nissen, her cousin Lisa Tosti, and many relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Richard and Dina DiPasquale.
Terri’s family and friends will celebrate her life in a manner that reflects her vibrant spirit—please join us in wearing Lily Pulitzer or another pink outfit, a nod to her signature sense of style, at the celebration of life in her honor.
Though she may no longer be with us, Terri's memory will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her intelligence, warmth, and fierce love for those she held dear will never be forgotten.
May she rest in peace.
