Sue passed away peacefully after a long illness.
She was born in Queens, NY and grew up on the south shore of Long Island.
Sue attended the Kenwood Academy of the Sacred Heart in Albany, NY. She received her BA from SUNY, Stony Brook and went on to earn her MLS from C.W. Post on Long Island.
Sue was a long time librarian in the Smithtown Library. There, she thrived in her position as both librarian and as the assistant director. She made many friends there and was surrounded by books - her passion.
After retirement, Sue moved to Florida and became an active member in the Seasiders community service organization in Palm Beach Shores. She had a sense of purpose with this group, feeding the less fortunate, reading with young school children and assisting in fundraising activities for the organization.
Suzy was a lover of books, children, animals, gardening, and of course, dancing. She was quick to make friends and was always happy to help others.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Eileen McManus, and her brothers, Thomas Jr. and Paul McManus.
She is survived by her brother John McManus (wife, Marianne), her sisters, Patricia, and Siobhan McManus. She also leaves behind her nephew Ian McManus (wife Kelly) and niece, Kathryn Sarcona (husband, Matthew), as well as her many cousins and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Riviera Beach, FL. A celebration of life will be held in New York at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Foundation in honor of Sue.
