JOSIE, as she was affectionately known, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 21st, 1933. She left her small town of Brookville, PA, to attend the Barbizon modeling school. She then fled to N.Y. City to pursue her modeling career. She eventually met the love of her life, Bill McIlvaine and together they moved to North Palm Beach, Florida in 1961 and started their family. She dedicated her life to raising their 5 children, (plus one) - Beth Dyack, Judy McIlvaine, Lucy Berckmans (Bruce), Nancy Maas (Willem), Billy McIlvaine, and Kevin Stant. Josie was a beautiful woman inside and out and spent countless hours volunteering on the pool deck at the North Palm Beach Swim Club. She was active in the community volunteering for the Junior Women’s Club, the Medical Dental Wives Club and The Benjamin School B.A.S.H. In her later years, she remained a fixture at the North Palm Beach Country Club pool doing her daily water aerobics. Josie never left the house without her Chanel #19 perfume and her bright pink lipstick! She adored the many golden retrievers the family raised and growing her roses. She was always thinking of others leaving roses and beautifully written notes by her many friends’ front doors. She leaves behind a legacy of nine grandchildren Sara (David), Daniel, Hunter, Amanda, Gunner, Ella, Jagger, Theodore and Charlotte and five great grandchildren: Rivers, Warner, Luna, Josie and Lucie.
A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 at the North Palm Beach Country Club (on the pool deck, of course) at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the North Palm Beach Aquatic Foundation c/o Dick Cavanah (Contact and Foundation's Venmo Phone # 561-762-7261) - 951 U.S. Highway One, North Palm Beach, FL 33408 and Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.howard-quattlebaum.com for the McIlvaine family.
