Patty graduated from Ada High School in Ohio. At a young age she developed a lifelong love of horses, just like her father who always had a horse around on the farm. Her first horse was named “Dixie” which as a girl she raised and trained and later sold when her and “Dick” began discussing marriage to help cover her wedding and honeymoon expenses. On December 24, 1948, she married Raymond R “Dick” Irwin. She then worked secretarial jobs, while her husband attended Milwaukee School of Engineering in Milwaukee, WI. They later moved to South Florida in 1949, where they raised their 4 children and lived the remainder of their lives together.
Patty was involved with Memorial Presbyterian Church in West Palm Beach and First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach and a proud participant with her Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO). She also enjoyed many aspects of sewing, including clothing, knitting, rughooking, needlepoint and had a deep love of quilting. She was a long standing member of Sand Dollars quilt group in North Palm Beach where she developed many special friendships. She also loved antiquing and enjoyed traveling with her husband in the US and around the world. She especially enjoyed being outside tending to her flowers and riding her lawn tractor. Her happiest times were spent in North Carolina with “Dick” on their Christmas tree farm.
Patty is survived by 3 of her 4 children and their spouses, Randall L Irwin (Kathe), Laura Irwin Mitchell (Emery), and Jeffrey G Irwin (Christy), 10 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Raymond R “Dick” Irwin and her oldest son, Steven R. Irwin, parents Gail and Helen Moore, brother Ronald and grandson Randall R “Ray” Irwin.
