Phyllis T. Caldwell, age 94, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2014. Phyllis was born on August 9, 1920 and was raised in Canada, first by her parents, Walter and Lillian Talbott, and then by her grandparents, Angus and Rose, following her mother’s death of tuberculosis. It was on her grandparents’ farm in Nova Scotia that Phyllis first developed a lifelong love of nature and animals. Throughout her adolescence, Phyllis cared for her grandparents and her younger sister, Jean, with whom she later moved to Edmonton, Alberta. While in Edmonton working in a business office, Phyllis met Edward “Ted” Caldwell on Valentine’s Day. Ted was stationed in Edmonton during World War II and they were immediately smitten. They moved to Chicago, where they were married in 1944. Before long, they were a family of 5 with daughter Pari and Gwen and Son Cam, and they spent the next 4 decades in Park ridge, IL. Phyllis was always passionate about her family, gardening playing bridge, baking, and animals. She and Ted moved to Florida in 1985 after retiring from an accounting career and raising her 3 children. She was exceptionally kind and loved by all; a warm and gracious woman who was so good at making others happy. She is predeceased by her husband Edward S. “Ted” Caldwell and her grandson Samuel. She is survived by her children, Gwen (Gerry) Richman, Cam Caldwell and Pari (Putnam) Livermore; her grandchildren, Tiffany (Adam) Langino, Ashlee Richman and her husband Tyler Holland, Kelly Caldwell and Lisa Millet, Stephen (Noel) Caldwell, Michael (Kathleen) Caldwell, Becky Caldwell and her husband Derek Nagle, Jamie (Jason) Knowles, LoriAnn Elizabeth (John) Boyle, Daniel Caldwell and Cherish (Anthony) Cahoun. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Truman Langino; Alyssa, Justin and Meredith Caldwell; Libby and Lucas Caldwell; Emerson and Addison Nagle; Zachary, Isaac, Caleb, and Aleah Knowles; Genevieve Boyle; Ian Caldwell; and Traver Cameron and Conner Cahoun. A memorial gathering will be held at Gwen and Gerry Richman’s on Sunday, November 9 at 4pm at 19 St. George Place, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Dog Ranch Rescue, 10948 Acme Rd, Wellington, FL 33414.
