

Salvatore J. Curvino, "Sal", age 82, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida passed away Monday, July 4, 2016. Salvatore was born and raised in Fort Lee, New Jersey by the late Salvatore and Rose Curvino. He graduated from Fort Lee High School in 1951. After graduation Sal went on to work in the fur district in New York City. He later went on to graduate from Stevens Institute of Technology and in 1956 married his high school sweetheart. While in college he was in the Air Force ROTC. Sal then served three years as a radar technician in the Air Force. In 1959 after the military, Sal enjoyed a long career with Pratt & Whitney, "P&W". He started as an engineer and worked on many engine products and programs. Mr. Curvino progressed through several leadership positions with P&W in Connecticut and Florida and retired as Vice President Product Support for P&W/IAE. Sal was a loving husband and father, dedicated to improving the lives around him. He appreciated spending time with his family and friends. Sal was an avid golfer who enjoyed the game and many friendships that were enriched on the course. He was a member of PGA National Golf Club and the Avon, Connecticut Country Club. Together with his wife Mary they raised their young children in Connecticut and took advantage of the four seasons for outdoor activities and vacations.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Mary and his five children; Edward Curvino and wife Barbara of Canton, Connecticut, Kathleen McElman and husband Michael of Londonderry, New Hampshire, Jean Kohrs and husband James of Alpharetta, Georgia, Steven Curvino of Cordova, Tennessee, William Curvino and wife Abigail of Carrollton, Georgia. He also leaves eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Kristin, Ashley, Andrew, Melissa, Ryan (and wife Carly), Kathryn, Mary Katherine, Amanda, Elizabeth, Justine and William and great-grandson, Evan. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Mario, Harry and Joseph. He is survived by his sister, Gloria Hall of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, sister-in-law Wilma Curvino of Paris, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
He was a devoted church lecturer, a contributing member of the Knights of Columbus, a committed Cub Scout leader and a steadfast fan of The NY Yankee's and Giants. Sal and a group of friends founded and built the South Windsor Swim Club in 1971. Sal was very fortunate to have wonderful care givers, and the family would like to express their gratitude to all of them.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Friday, July 8, 2016 at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 754 U.S. Highway One, North Palm Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola, 9999 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens on Saturday, July 9 at 10:00AM.
